Meet the Team
Founder & Executive Director
Lance has been in youth ministry since coming on staff with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in August of 1991. Lance served for 10 years on staff with FCA in Nashville, TN. During his last six years with FCA, Lance began working closely with the athletes and coaches at Vanderbilt University. In the summer of 2001, Lance founded WhoUWith? Ministries and began serving, on a full-time basis, as the “Spiritual Coordinator” for the Vanderbilt athletic program. He works closely with the football team and staff and also has weekly meetings with the men’s basketball and baseball teams. During the year, Lance will lead team chapels, player and coaches’ Bible studies and meet one-on-one with dozens of athletes and coaches. He also works closely with the Vanderbilt University FCA huddle as the volunteer staff person for FCA.
Lance is a popular speaker for churches, athletic teams, colleges and camps. He has been a speaker at several Fellowship of Christian Athletes National Camps, including St. Simon’s Leadership Camp, Boy’s Black Mtn. Camp, and several team football camps throughout the south.
Lance graduated from Belmont University School of Business in 1991 and is an ordained minister.
Lance, and his wife, Aimee have been married since the summer of 1992 and live in Goodlettsville, TN. They have four children Shelby, Bailey, Kelsey and Cooper. Lance is passionate about loving and romancing his bride, leading his family and serving the body of Christ through collegiate athletic ministry!
In addition to youth retreats and summer camps, Lance also speaks throughout the year at marriage retreats and men’s conferences. He has a real desire for men to love their wives and treat them as God’s special gift.
Andy serves as Assistant Director of WhoUWith? Ministries. Though he will be involved with a wide variety of ministry, his primary role will be serving the baseball team and coaches. Andy played baseball for Vandy from 1998-2000. Following the 2000 season, he was drafted in the 5th round by the New York Yankees. It was during his first spring training with the Yankees in 2001 that his life was transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Following the end of his professional baseball career in 2005, Andy returned to Vandy and finished his undergraduate degree in 2006. It was during this return year at Vanderbilt that he felt the call to full-time vocational ministry. For 11 years Andy served on church staffs; first as a minister of sports outreach at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, TN, then as pastor of discipleship at Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Ridgeland, MS. Prior to his role with WhoUWith? he completed a year in a ministry residency program with a focus on church multiplication at Brentwood Baptist Church in Brentwood, TN.
Leveraging his personal experience as a former student-athlete at Vanderbilt and professional baseball player with the Yankees, Andy has a God-given calling to invest in the lives of collegiate student-athletes and coaches ultimately seeking to make disciples of Jesus who make disciples with Jesus where they live, work, and play from neighbors and unto nations.
Andy is married to Tracey and they have two daughters; Laurel and Riley.
Women’s Ministry Director
Courtney Grah has been on staff with WhoUWith? directing our women’s ministry since 2012. Before joining the WhoUWith? team she was on staff with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Nashville, where she led FCA’s women’s ministry in Middle Tennessee from ‘04-‘12. Courtney graduated from Tennessee Tech University where she played volleyball. During her time as a collegiate athlete, Courtney saw the importance of having someone on the college campus in ministry that would hold weekly Bible studies, all-athlete meetings, accountability and discipleship.
Courtney feels such a passionate calling for college ministry with athletes, coaches and all those involved or connected with them. She has loved being able to pour the love of Jesus into the young ladies, coaches, administration and trainers at Vanderbilt. It has been such a blessing to see so many students come to really know Christ and go deeper with Him in discipleship.
When Courtney is not doing ministry at Vandy, she is pouring into one of the greatest ministries, her 3 boys… Paxton, Pace, & Pierce. Courtney is married to her best friend Curtis, who is a football coach and teacher at Mount Juliet High School. They desire to invest in people well by loving them like Christ loves them and serving others with all theirs hearts for His glory.
Pro Outreach Director, Tennessee Titans Chaplain
With over 20 years of chaplaincy experience at both the collegiate and professional levels, James has recently been invited by the Tennessee Titans to serve as their team chaplain. We are so excited to have James join the team and to see our mission of INVEST, INSPIRE, and IMPACT extend to the Tennessee Titans.
James is no stranger to the Tennessee Titans as he served as their volunteer chaplain from 1996-1999 when they first made the move to Tennessee. From there, James served as National Director of Outreach for Pro Athletes Outreach, Team Chaplain for the University of Tennessee, and most recently as Director of Football Development at Duke University.
James and his wife Valerie have been married 31 years, have 3 children and 3 grandchildren.
Belmont Women’s Basketball Chaplain
Aimee Brown works part-time ministering to the women’s basketball team on Belmont University’s campus.
Aimee spends time a few days a week in bible study and in one-on-one meetings with the Belmont girls. She also assists Courtney in bible study with the Vandy girls and helps out with our summer co-ed study with our athletes. She also joins us in leading our annual student-athlete mission trip.
Aimee is the wife of our director, Lance Brown. She is one of the most decorated female athletes in Belmont history as their second all-time scorer and the first woman to have her jersey retired in school history. This makes her a great fit for ministering to the Belmont women’s team.
The team has welcomed Aimee with open arms and excitement and they love to gather at the Browns’ home or ministry house from time-to-time for fellowship, food, and study.
Grace Trussell has been working part-time as the administrative assistant for WhoUWith? since 2017. College athletics has been a very important part of her life since she was a little girl watching her father coach basketball. Grace graduated from Crichton College where she was a member of the dance team. She loves working behind the scenes in support of the mission of WhoUWith?. Grace and her husband Mark have been married and living in Nashville since 2010, and they have two boys, Walker and Grey.
